Frequently Asked Questions
What is vestibular training?
Vestibular training focuses on improving the body’s balance system—specifically how the brain and inner ear manage motion, balance, and spatial orientation. This type of training helps skaters become more comfortable and controlled while spinning and rotating.

⸻
Why is vestibular training important for figure skaters?
Figure skaters rely heavily on rotational balance. Vestibular training helps reduce dizziness, improves spin control, builds rotational endurance, strengthens alignment and enhances jump orientation in the air.
⸻
What will skaters do during the session?

• Balance drills
• Rotational exercises with and without the harness (both slow and fast)
• Progressive spin drills with and without a spinner
⸻
What should skaters bring?
• Water bottle
• Athletic shoes or dance shoes
• Comfortable workout clothing
• Please arrive prepared and adequately warmed up for your sessions.
⸻
Will this type of training make my skater dizzy?
Some initial dizziness is normal and part of the adaptation process. All exercises are introduced gradually and with safety in mind. Over time, most skaters experience significantly less dizziness and better control.
⸻
Is this training safe?
Yes. Sessions takes place in a controlled environment with a focus on safety and progressive training. Skaters are encouraged to go at their own pace.

⸻
How often should vestibular training be done?
A couple of short sessions per week (15- 20 minutes) can lead to measurable improvements. The goal is consistency and comfort over time.
⸻

Is there a weight restriction?
200 lbs.
